Description
Suzuki SV650 Straight Clutch Cable (1999–2009)
Raced and Tested by Spears Racing for street, track-day, and race bikes
The stock SV650 clutch cable uses a preformed metal bend at the perch. Over time that bend binds and eventually fails. This custom straight-pull cable removes that bend so the cable lasts longer and pulls more cleanly—whether you run stock bars or clip-ons.
Why this cable
- Straight design eliminates the OEM metal elbow that binds and breaks
- Smoother, more consistent clutch pull
- Works with stock handlebars or clip-ons
- Built for street bikes, track days, and race machines
- Used by racers and race teams worldwide
Specs
- 2 mm inner cable
- Delrin-covered barrel at the clutch lever
- Two 12 mm nuts at the engine end (OEM size—not the 13/14 mm nuts found on many aftermarket cables)
- Full-length sliding black outer cover to reduce heat and binding in tight routing or race fairings
- Fitment: Suzuki SV650, 1999–current
Install notes
Lube the cable before install and apply a light coat of grease on the perch end. After routing, rotate the bars lock-to-lock and confirm clearance left and right. This cable does not follow the stock routing—run it straight across the front of the fork tubes and headstock.
Confirm clutch push-rod clearance per the Suzuki service manual. Incorrect clearance can cause drag or damage. Typical lever free play is 10–15 mm; set both the lever and engine-end adjusters, pump the lever a few times, and re-check.
Spears Racing has designed race-specific parts for decades. This cable is one of those application-specific pieces: researched, developed, and built to last longer and pull better than stock.
