Kawasaki EX400 / Ninja 500 Fairing Stay (2018–Current)

Spears Racing developed this purpose-built fairing stay for the Kawasaki EX400 and Ninja 500 (2018 to current). It replaces the OEM stay with a lighter, stiffer race-oriented structure while preserving a clean, professional appearance consistent with the Spears product line.

The stay is fabricated from aluminum tubular and flat stock, then precision-welded in machined jigs so every unit holds the same geometry. After welding, it is powder-coated for corrosion resistance, a durable finish, and a finished custom look. At 6 ounces (170 grams), it is substantially lighter than the stock assembly and is designed to deliver a rigid mounting platform for race bodywork.

Installation is straightforward once the factory stay is removed. The Spears stay bolts to the motorcycle using the stock mounting holes and original bolts. The OEM gauge cluster also bolts directly to the new stay, so instrumentation does not need a separate adapter.

Two important differences from the OEM part should be planned for before installation. First, this stay does not use the factory Kawasaki mirror-mount holes. Two new mounting holes must be drilled in the front upper fairing. Second, if you are fitting aftermarket race bodywork, existing holes in the bodywork may need to be repositioned so they align with the Spears stay. Taking a few minutes to mock up the bodywork before final drilling will make the job cleaner and more precise.
