Fitment Notes

The pads are cut to a universal professional pattern. While they fit the majority of race tails, minor shaping or trimming may be required for some models. Bolt holes for tail mounts must be drilled as needed.

Because the edges are tapered, trimming can be more difficult than with standard foam. We strongly recommend comparing the pad dimensions (shown in the specification images) against your tail before purchase. For applications requiring more extensive custom shaping, the Standard Seat Foam may be a better choice.

Important Heat Considerations

The self-adhesive layer is heat-activated and may lose adhesion under extreme heat, such as from under-tail exhausts. In these cases:

• Install a heat shield on the underside of the tail, or
• Use a contact adhesive (such as 3M spray adhesive) in addition to, or instead of, the factory adhesive. Contact adhesive is less affected by heat and is widely available at hardware stores.

Fitting Instructions

1. Ensure the mounting surface is clean and free of oil, grease, or other contaminants.
2. Paint the race tail before installing the foam if painting is planned. Adhesive residue is difficult to remove.
3. Peel the protective backing from the foam.
4. Use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm both the race tail surface and the adhesive side of the foam. Heat the adhesive until it is warm enough to activate, but avoid overheating or damaging the foam or tail.
5. Position the foam on the tail. Have a second person help apply firm, even pressure while you secure it.
6. Place clean rags over the foam, then tape it firmly in place with strong tape. Allow the adhesive to cure overnight (minimum 12 hours).

If the foam does not adhere properly in any area (particularly around tight curves), apply additional contact adhesive such as 3M spray adhesive. For bikes with under-tail exhausts that generate significant heat, we recommend using contact adhesive from the start.
