Description
Brembo, the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of brake systems, announces the introduction of the 17mm and 15mm versions of the Brembo RCS Corsa Corta, the newest radial brake pump for road use, available on the market .
With the expansion of the RCS Corsa Corta family, an optimal and personalized response is offered to the needs of all types of motorcycles, which can now have even more modular braking, since the ideal size of brake pumps can be chosen. RCS Corsa Corta (15, 17 or 19 mm), best suited to the characteristics of the brake system of each motorcycle.
In fact, in order for each motorcycle’s brake system to function even better, not only in terms of stopping power, but also in terms of lever feel and modulation, it is necessary for the brake pump to be properly sized and ensure the best hydraulic torque ratio: this is the ratio between the diameter of the pump piston and the diameter of the caliper pistons.
ONE PUMP, THREE MAPS
The selector, using a cam mechanism, allows the user to choose between three different response settings.
With the Normal setting , identified on the pump with the letter N, the position of the attack point guarantees a more gradual initial phase and, therefore, suitable for driving in the city or for braking in conditions of low adherence.
With the Sport configuration , identified on the pump by the letter S, the attack point principle is shorter than in the N configuration. This configuration offers a more dynamic response, suitable for sportier driving.
Finally, in the Race configuration , identified on the pump with the letter R, the position of the cam mechanism allows to further reduce the initial phase of the attack point, to produce an immediate response, just like in MotoGP brake pumps. In this way, the pilot can obtain the attack point of the braking immediately. This configuration is ideal for driving with a marked feeling of competition, where scratching hundredths of seconds in braking is important.
Just by going from one type of configuration to another, the rider can vary the response and the braking sensation of the bike immediately and predictably.
This means that, depending on the size of the pistons of the brake calipers of each motorcycle model, it is possible to choose the most suitable RCS Corsa Corta brake pump to guarantee perfect dimensionalizing , in relation to the rest of the brake system. In fact, if a brake pump is oversized, it pushes an excessive mass of oil onto the caliper pistons, which impairs braking modulation and lever sensitivity. Conversely, a smaller brake pump does not push enough oil to guarantee braking power.
The 17mm version is designed to optimally respond to the needs of an increasing number of models using brake calipers with 30mm diameter pistons: Ducati Panigale and Monster 1200, Kawasaki H2 and ZX10R, Yamaha R1 and R6, KTM Superduke, MV Agusta F4RR.
The perfect solution to guarantee the best performance and driving sensation with brake calipers with 30mm pistons, such as Brembo M50 calipers. Instead, the 15mm version has been developed to ensure the best versatility for both single-disc and motorcycle applications with floating calipers and dual discs.
In this category there are many motard and naked motorcycles, such as the Ducati Scrambler, the KTM Duke, the Kawasaki EX300/400cc , ER-6N and the Z750, the Yamaha R3/MT-03 and the Triumph Bonneville T100. The 15RCS Corsa Corta can also be used on all scooters that have one or more calipers up front with a total of 4 pistons.
For its part, the 19RCS Corsa Corta brake pump remains the best solution for all motorcycles with 34 or 32 mm piston brake calipers, such as the Honda CBR1000, the Ducati 1098/1198, the BMW S1000RR, the Triumph Speed Triple, Yamaha FZ9, Suzuki GSX-R 1000 or Kawasaki Z1000.
The functions of the 17 and 15RCS Corsa Corta remain intact compared to the 19RCS Corsa Corta, that is, they offer the pilot 6 different braking modulation options.
The driver can adapt the position of the attack point (“bite point”) and adjust the wheelbase of the pump through the RCS (Ratio Click System), to adapt the braking performance to his driving style and conditions environmental and road.
This is done using a selector located on the top of the pump, which allows you to adjust the wheelbase of the pump to the value 18 or 20. To do this, you only have to turn the regulator at the front of the pump 180 degrees. handle, with a screwdriver.
With this lever system (red when it is located at 18 mm and black when it is adjusted at 20 mm), the distance between the support point and the application point on the pump push rod is moved two millimeters : With this, a different distribution of the braking force is obtained, without affecting the pure power.
Thorough improvement studies have enabled Brembo to offer three brake pumps in one and further improve the performance of the brake system. In addition, taking advantage of the mixture resulting from the variation of the wheelbase from 18 to 20 mm and the three maps R (Race), S (Sport) and N (Normal) it is possible to achieve up to 6 different combinations.
ITEMS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE INSTALLATION:
We suggest using the Brembo Brake Reservoir Mounting Kit (Brembo Part# 110.A263.85) as it includes a reservoir, bracket, hardware and tubing.
Brembo Master Cylinders REQUIRE an M10x1.0 banjo bolt. If you have 2 lines coming off the master you will need a double M10x1.0 banjo bolt and 3 washers, if you have 1 line off the master you will need a single M10x1.0 banjo bolt and 2 washers.
If you intend to use your stock reservoir you will require a length of 6mm Tygon 2375 Tubing and 2 3/8″ Spring Clamps.
Brake fluid will be needed. We suggest replacing all of the fluid in the system when you install the master.
