KTM 790

The KTM 790 is KTM’s middleweight 799 cc LC8c parallel-twin platform — compact, sharp, and built around usable torque rather than peak-number chasing. It underpins two distinct machines: the street-focused 790 Duke and the dual-purpose 790 Adventure.

Platform at a glance

At the center is a liquid-cooled, DOHC, 8-valve parallel twin with a 88.0 × 65.7 mm bore and stroke. Official displacement is 799 cm³. A 285° crankshaft gives it a V-twin-like pulse instead of a typical even-fire twin feel.

Typical claimed output:

  • Duke: about 105 PS / 105 hp and 87 Nm
  • Adventure: about 95 PS and 87 Nm (tuned more for midrange and touring)

Both use Bosch ride-by-wire, a 6-speed gearbox, a PASC slipper clutch, and a chromoly steel trellis frame that uses the engine as a stressed member. Rider aids usually include lean-sensitive traction control, cornering ABS, and selectable ride modes. Euro 5+ compliance is standard on current models.
